After years of mobile exclusivity, the iPhone will now become available to other non-O2 subscribers starting later this year. The iPhone on Orange was made official after the UK mobile carrier announced their new deal with Apple as they hope to boost their sales over the Holiday season through the release of one of, if not the most popular mobile phone in the market today. If everything goes as planned, Orange subscribers may look forward to a merry Christmas with their new iPhones on hand. So just how awesome is the Apple iPhone 3GS?
The Look
Apple can be credited for single-handedly revolutionizing the world of mobile phones by introducing an outrageously splendid design when they released the iPhone a few years back. Since then, it has become the standard for all touch screen devices and its predecessors could only dream of coming up with a new design that could outclass that of the iPhone. A lot have tried, but unfortunately, none have succeeded. The trademark sleek and shiny finish, accentuated by the silver edgings, and brought to life by the oversized high resolution display, still remains to be the look nearly all Smartphones are trying to go for.
It's either this or the classic Blackberry look which is more on the business side in terms of overall design. So, when it comes to the iPhone 3GS's design, there's not much that can be said. Only that based on the market response, it still holds the best overall design in the industry.
Mobile Features
We could be here all day talking about the iPhone's strong points and probably run out of superlatives sooner rather than later. Its immaculate operating system, amazing touch responsiveness, and top-of-the-line high-res display are just some of the features that make the iPhone what it is right now. So instead of talking about its highlights, let's take the road less traveled and focus on its weak points.
Sadly, there isn't much to criticize about the iPhone 3GS. By now you're probably thinking that we're actually being paid by Apple to write this article. Unfortunately for us, we're not getting paid that much. It's just that the audacity of Apple in coming up with an entirely revolutionary device still astounds us up to now.
For the sake of argument then, let's pick on the iPhone's camera. At only 3-Megapixels, this camera is not at the same level as the iPhone's other impressive features and functions. In fact, it's not even up to par with other Smarthones in the market as the standard has now gone up to 5-Megapixels.
That is of course without mentioning the likes of the Sony Ericsson Satio or the Samsung Pixon12 which both have mind-boggling 12-MP snappers. Nonetheless, added features such as autofocus, touch focus, and geo-tagging make the iPhone's camera much more fun. Although it is in no way cutting edge, it is still decent for capturing precious moments on stills and on film.
Orange subscribers couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present. It's as if Santa himself went down the mobile phone industry's chimney and sparkled pixy dust all over. Now that the iPhone on Orange has become official, there's much to smile about for our Orange-hearted countrymen.
